I’ve been a professional photographer for 18+ years
I truly believe that we rise by lifting others and after 18 years as a professional wedding and portrait photographer my goal is to help others soar. I started photographing weddings as an associate photographer during college from 2002-2005 for fun and after graduating with a photography degree from the University of Michigan and traveling a bit, I realized it was my true passion. I then started Jessica Hill Photography in Portland in 2008. Fast forward 12 years, and I have created and maintained three separate brands, Jessica Hill Photography, Peekaboo Portland Boudoir and A Lovely Day Studios (an associate brand business I recently sold).
I’ve faced all the same struggles that you’re facing now… a crashed economy, self doubt, wondering if I’m good enough, some of the weirdest wedding situations you can imagine, and many more… And while sometimes I struggle with the work-life balance and late season burnout, I love what I do far too much to give up. So I kept at it and have created a successful brand in a very saturated market, taught 100’s of photographers, spoken internationally and have won many awards, including Oregon Bride’s Best Independent Photographer of 2018.
